Fasting that God Approve:
What is a fast?
Fasting is the willful refrainment from eating for a period of time. And denying one flesh from sinning. Fasting is a good time to confess your sins and to repent from sinning. It is a time to seek God’s mercy and forgiveness. A time to meditate on God’s words and to be close to Him.
There are two types of fasting.
Individual fasting and corporate or national Fasting.
The individual fasting should be done privately. Only God and your spouse need to know that you’re fasting
Jesus said, “Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance.
For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting.
Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.” Matthew 6:16-18NKJV
The individual fasting should be done privately. Only God and your spouse need to know that you are fasting.
The second type of Fasting is a national fasting or Corporate fasting. The Church leaders or Head of State, may call for nation wide fasting on a particular days.
For example, The Winners Church fasting is every Wednesday of the week.
Why is fasting important?
Fasting is very important for anyone who wants power from God to overcome some obstacles.
For example, I have some unruly tenants in my house and she was boasted of not moving anywhere and that all the police and judges are her boyfriends. How do I evict this tenants when the court were closed. I started fasting and praying to God. That same day they started moving out. This is just one example.
Another example, was a Sister was seriously sick and the enemies were sharing her body parts in her dreams. I started fasting for this lady and within four days she recovered and the spirit of death was canceled. May God take all the glory.
These are just recent testimonies on how fasting can be effectively utilized to solving problems.
When Jesus disciples were unable to heal a boy who suffered sizture and convulsions. Jesus said,
this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.””
Matthew 17:21 NKJV
Fasting and prayers have been a powerful weapons to defeat your enemies.
The second type of fasting is corporate fasting or national fasting the kind of fasting done by the city of Nineveh.
God call the nation of Israel to repent in Joel 2:12’
God is Calling the Americans and The United Nations To Repent.
And I quote:
. “says the LORD, “Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.”
So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the LORD your God. Joel 2:12-13
What is God looking for when you decide to fast?
God is expecting us to stop undue racism and discrimination.
To release the prisoners and the people you have locked up in your prisons.
To give freedom to your servants and to your house helps.
To pay compensation to the affected black Africans
Americans who have been Psychologically damaged due to the effects of colonizations and slavery. Africans are still not free economic and politically.
The British and the French needed to restore Africans to the pre colonial era to foster peace and progress.
God wants us to stop killing innocent babies through abortion
He wants us to continue reproduced children through the principles of marriage.
God wants to repent of our sins both private sins and national sins.
To feed the hungry and to open your house to the homeless and to give clothing to the naked.
Let our president declares a national Prayers and Fasting for Seven days to heal our nation and restore our country to prosperity.
God says, “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
II Chronicles 7:14 NKJV
Then your light will breakout. Your healing will be quick.
Your peace and prosperity will be abundant.
For God is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm to anyone.
Isaiah 58:6-8
Again The Benefits of fasting are:
1. Getting closer to God
2. To get Power from God
3. To defeat your enemies
4. To do healing for the sick
5. To have more anointing and grace.
Fasting and prayers are the power source of Christians power. Go and fast and come back with testimonies.
